Our rehabs

Rehab Programs in Richmond, VA

Personalized drug and alcohol treatment for all Virginians, including people on Medicaid. Your journey, our commitment.

Reaching out is often the hardest step, and at Skypoint Recovery it is met with understanding, not judgment. We offer a range of rehab programs in Richmond, each tailored to the person in front of us, because no two people come to recovery the same way.

Our programs treat substance use and the mental health conditions that often come with it. In Richmond we provide a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and an outpatient program, along with dual diagnosis care, a men’s program, sober living, and transitional housing. When you need medical detox or inpatient care, we arrange it through trusted partner facilities and continue your care when you come home.

Addiction is a treatable condition, and lifelong recovery is possible. We serve Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, the Tri-Cities, and people from across Virginia. Recovery is waiting for you.

Programs and levels of care

Outpatient Program

Regular therapy and recovery support that fits around work, school, and family. Often the last step in a step-down plan, or a starting point for milder concerns.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Several treatment sessions a week that balance group and individual therapy, built to fit around work and family. A common step down from PHP.

Drug Rehab

Treatment for opioid, stimulant, benzodiazepine, cannabis, and other drug use through PHP, IOP, and outpatient care, with MAT for opioid use disorder when appropriate.

Alcohol Rehab

Treatment for alcohol use disorder through PHP, IOP, and outpatient care, with medically supervised detox arranged first when withdrawal could be dangerous.

Dual Diagnosis Rehab

Integrated treatment for co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, in one coordinated plan.

Arranged with a partner facility

Inpatient Rehab

When you need round-the-clock care, we assess you, arrange admission to a partner inpatient or residential facility, coordinate detox if needed, and provide step-down care after.

Men’s Rehab

Gender-specific addiction treatment for men in Richmond: a judgment-free space to deal with the pressures and expectations that can fuel substance use.

Sober Living

A substance-free recovery residence in Richmond with peer accountability and clear house expectations, for people continuing treatment or moving into independent life.

Transitional Housing

Stable, supportive housing for people in PHP or IOP, or just finishing, with case management that works toward independent housing.

What is a continuum of care?

A continuum of care means treatment that changes as you do. Instead of one program for everyone, there are several levels of care, from round-the-clock support to a weekly session, and you move between them based on what you need right now.

These are the levels of care Skypoint Recovery offers or arranges, from most to least intensive:

  • Medical detox (partner facility): Medically supervised withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, and other substances when it is needed. We arrange admission and plan your next step before you leave.
  • Inpatient or residential rehab (partner facility): Treatment while living at a facility, with support day and night. We coordinate admission and stay involved through discharge.
  • Partial hospitalization program (PHP): Treatment most of the day, most days of the week, while you sleep at home or in recovery housing.
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP): Several sessions a week of a few hours each, built to fit around work and family.
  • Outpatient program: Regular therapy and support with the most independence, often the last step before continuing care.
  • Recovery housing: Sober living and transitional housing, which can be combined with PHP, IOP, or outpatient treatment.

As you progress, your team steps you down to less intensive care, and if you hit a rough patch, you can step back up. Each move is planned in advance, so there is no gap where you are left on your own.

How do I know which level of care I need?

You do not have to figure this out alone, and you do not need to know before you call. Your level of care is decided at a free, confidential assessment, where our team looks at your substance use, withdrawal risk, physical and mental health, safety, and the support you have at home.

Some general guidance:

  • If you could have dangerous withdrawal, especially from alcohol or benzodiazepines, medical detox usually comes first.
  • If you need a safe place to live while you stabilize, or outpatient care has not been enough, inpatient or residential care may be recommended.
  • If you need a full day of structure but can safely sleep at home, PHP is often the right start.
  • If you need steady support several days a week while keeping up with work or family, IOP may fit.
  • If you are stable and want ongoing support, outpatient care may be enough.

Your plan is reviewed as you go. The right level of care today may not be the right one next month, and that is how it should work. If you are in crisis, call or text 988. In an emergency, call 911.

Questions about our programs

What happens when I contact Skypoint Recovery?

You talk with our admissions team about what is going on, confidentially and without judgment. Next comes an assessment of your needs and medical history, then a personalized treatment plan, and then you begin treatment. We can also verify your insurance during that first conversation.

Do your rehab programs accept Virginia Medicaid?

Yes. Skypoint Recovery accepts Virginia Medicaid and other insurance, and we offer payment plans for people without insurance. Virginia Medicaid covers addiction treatment services, but coverage depends on your plan and on medical necessity, so we verify your benefits before you start.

How long does rehab take?

It depends on your needs and goals. Most people move through more than one level of care over time, and your plan is adjusted as you progress rather than set to a fixed number of days.

Are your facilities accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes. Our facilities are accessible to people with disabilities. If you need a specific accommodation, let our admissions team know before your first visit.
